Dalbergia Melanoxylon

Nearly as black as Gabon Ebony, there is some subtle grain figuring within African Blackwood which some find more interesting visually. Incredibly hard, dense and fine-grained, some pieces contain swirls of dark brown/reddish grain mostly obscured, but not entirely, by the darkness of the wood. The sapwood can provide a powerful graphic contrast in some pieces. Blackwood is the traditional material used for the finest clarinets.
