BIRCH
genus Betula

Birch’s white bark with bold black markings makes it easy to identify in any forest. While not all birch trees are colored so boldly, all yield fine timber. Sharing Maple’s golden coloration and Black Cherry’s grain pattern, Birch brings a lot to the table visually. Some cuts of Birch can also yield amazing figure: Crotch or Flame Birch has been used in many a fine piece of classical furniture. Not the easiest wood to work, Birch has a warm color and a beautiful subtle grain when finished properly.
