Dalbergia Retusa

A true rosewood, Cocobolo is a hard, dense tropical wood with a rich and colorful grain. There is much variation within the Cocobolo family: striped orange-red, purplish-black, deep rich browns – all can be found on pieces of Cocobolo. Very dense, with a specific gravity of over 1.0, Cocobolo will sink in water.

Cocobolo is classified vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. For more information, see our page on Wood Sourcing Ethics.
