The Modular Table includes a sturdy plywood bottom, which requires no additional bracing or support in most cases. However, for some extreme use-cases, it can be helpful.
The Support Bar has not proven to be necessary, and we are not aware of any significant “sag” being recorded, but some owners choose to add this component for extra peace of mind.
The Support Bar should be considered like snow tires for a vehicle – generally unnecessary for the vast majority of users, but available for certain extreme situations.
Installation
Support bars are sold individually, but multiple support bars can be used. The recommended placement is to install a support bar on the seams of the center plywood pieces (not the end pieces, which are already secured on three sides). In other words, two support bars for a medium length table, or three for a large.
