Hello all!

It’s the beginning of March, so it’s time to check in and see how the project is moving as we begin the fulfillment phase. Thank you in advance for bearing with us on this update – we’re still without a reliable place to film, so we’re keeping this one a little more loose and mobile.

Key Takeaways

  • Production for the Modular Desk is just getting started. We remain building out critical infrastructure and workstations in Pennsylvania, though they are currently ready for producing standard desktops. Other components are in the works and getting built out, and should start flowing in the coming weeks.
  • It’s been slower going than anticipated, for a couple of reasons. The frames not arriving, some elements of the project – including the Cable Management module – bouncing back to engineering for updates and adjustment, and other minor hurdles have all contributed to this, as well as the Monitor Ledge remaining in the final development stages. We’ve also been working to plan and structure our labor in anticipation of the Modular Desk production, as we simultaneously ramp up production in other areas, such as Prophecy and Modular Gaming Tables. That said, the majority of these problems have been solved and we’re making good strides on the rest.
  • The frames have arrived, at long last. They did not arrive on the expected date of February 19th, instead arriving about a week later. However, the number we received was significantly higher than we thought. In the video, we take a look at one, so check it out if you’re interested in a light unboxing!
  • The frames are being received and inspected extra carefully to make sure everything is perfect – they ought to be, as we were very thorough in communicating all of the specifications, however with something so important we want to be absolutely certain to catch any potential issue. That said, we don’t expect to find any.
  • Obviously, with the frames just arriving and production in the early stages, we have not shipped any orders as of yet. The estimate from production is a cautious one of a couple weeks away from shipping; part of the reason for this is pessimism/conservatism on our part. The earliest production models sometimes result in QA issues leading to adjustments and corrections, so we’re allowing buffer time under the assumption this will happen. That said, as you’re aware, this project has been very detail oriented and careful, and there is a real possibility these first units are able to be shipped!
  • The new timeline to be communicated to backers is still coming, in light of all of this.
  • We will be focusing on specific orders early on in this fulfillment. Typically, we produce items in bulk runs and they are assigned to backers in date order; that is, the earliest orders get items first. This works well to get volume produced, but it can be a little messy in some cases, and lead to delays with a minority of orders. We’ll be treating these orders more like we do our Prophecy line, where we specifically make sure everything for the earliest order is in production, and shepherded through the process to shipping. This will help us predict the orders going out more reliably than we typically can.
  • If you’ve moved since placing your order, or will be soon, get in touch to let us know! We want to make sure your Modular Desk reaches you safe and sound, so please keep your address with us up to date. It’s important to note that if you’ve updated your address through WyrmwoodGaming.com, this does not affect orders you’ve already placed! The only way to change the address of a placed order is by contacting us directly, so drop us a line at sales@wyrmwoodgaming.com if you need us to change that.

Next Update: March 15th

That does it for this update. Thank you for your patience, and we apologize for the delays getting the project up and running. We’re working hard to advance this and get all of your desks out and on their way to you as soon as we possibly can… but the priority always remains making sure they are right, and worthy of the cost both in terms of the funds and the time. We have no intention of letting you down on this front – we can’t wait to find out what you think of your desk when it arrives.
